For many buyers Tosmur is the best compromise: the centre and the large shops are minutes away, the beach is walkable, and the atmosphere is far calmer than in the busier districts. The mouth of the Dim river draws a green band through the area, and further upstream you find the famous riverside restaurants where guests eat at tables set in the cool water.

The property market here is balanced. There is plenty of spacious, well-kept stock built two or three decades ago at friendly prices, and new modern developments keep appearing. This is the district where a renovated, generously sized apartment is often a better buy than a smaller new-build near the shore for the same money.

Families are particularly fond of it: less through traffic, easier parking and a notably friendly neighbourhood feel.

Good to know

With some of the older buildings it is worth checking the service charge and the state of maintenance carefully.
The stretches near the river stay pleasantly cool in summer, but fitting insect screens is worthwhile.
