The castle hill and its surroundings are the heart of Alanya. This is where the long sandy sweep of Cleopatra beach begins; here you find the marina, the Red Tower, the historic shipyard and the city walls. Cafés, craft shops and restaurants line the narrow lanes, and a cable car carries you up the hill.
In property terms this district is unusual. Heritage protection limits new construction, so what you find are renovated older houses and small, individual apartment buildings at the foot of the hill. Buying here is not buying a mass-market product but character — and prices reflect that.
Because the centre and the beach are so close, rental demand stays strong all year, particularly in the short-let market.
